Welcome to
Koraa

Koraa started with humble beginnings in 2014 with pop-ups and craft shows in the Bay Area. The following year, we moved from our Universtiy Ave location to our current home in the historic Elmwood neighborhood of Berkeley. Today, our store is filled with unique handmade products that represent over 20 countries, from the Himalayan mountains to the coast of Africa.

Meet
Rover & Kin

A few years in, we had a thirst to design a modern and sustainable line and launched our in-house accessories brand Rover & Kin in 2018. Collaborating with long-time artisan partners in India, our mission for Rover & Kin is to build a more equitable ecosystem of design with purpose that honors the people and planet. Rover & Kin is a pround member of the Fair Trade Federation and currently partner with over three hundred independent retailers across the US and beyond who share in the same vision.

Old Yak to
koraa

After 5 years in business, we turned towards our roots and rebranded from Old Yak Bazaar to Koraa (produnced ko-ra). In Tibetan, kora means ‘to circumambulate’. Like our eternal knot logo, Koraa represents our shared and interconnected journey. Ours has been a pilgrimage across borders and cultures. Through many entrepeneural twists and turns, we’re so happy to share our created and curated collections from around the world with you.

Our small business stands as a labor of love. Once you step in, you’ll notice that each and every display in the shop is custom built over the years to perfectly fit our space. From giant pegboards and floating shelves to earring displays and clothing racks, we built it all. So come on in if you’re in the area, we have so much to share with you!
